Matthew C. Katz, MS has over 25 years' of broad healthcare experience. Matthew served as the executive vice president and chief executive officer of the Connecticut State Medical Society, the state’s largest physician organization, from 2006 to 2019. Matthew is the former director of Private Payer Advocacy and director of the Practice Management Center at the American Medical Association, where he also worked in the Private Sector Advocacy unit and health policy development. Prior to his arrival at the AMA in 1998, Matthew worked in the Department of Managed Care at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Previously, Matthew worked for the American Academy of Pediatrics, Medica Health Plans of Allina Health System and UnitedHealth Group, Inc.
A native of Minnesota, Matthew received a fellowship and earned his Master of Science in Health Services Research and Policy from the Institute for Health Services Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. Matthew holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He has served on many local, state and national boards as a health care advisor and expert.
